At E3 earlier this evening, we finally got to see Sony’s PlayStation 4 gaming console. While a fair bit is known about the device and the games it will run, when it came to price tags, there had been a shortage of information. That is no longer the case, however, with Sony revealing a slew of information via a press release, including with it the cost of the PS4 Eye.

The PlayStation 4 offers a 500GB hard drive, the first official word to have surfaced about what kind of storage capacity gamers can expect from the next-generation unit. There’s no final word on the weight and physical dimensions yet, but the estimates peg it at 275 × 53 × 305mm. As expected, the device will ship with a DualShock 4 controller as well.
The PlayStation 4 will see 8-cores of AMD Juagar processing power, as well as next-gen AMD Radeon graphics and 8GB of memory. There’s said to be 2x USB 3.0 ports, as well a single AUX port. There’s also Ethernet for wired Internet connectivity, and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR for hands-free interaction with the gaming console.
The press release also details the Dual Shock 4 controller, which is slated to hit shelves at $59. In case you’ve missed it, the new controller features a 2-point touch pad, as well as various keys and switches that include a Share button and PS button. There’s a light bar, a single speaker, and vibration, connectivity comes by way of Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, and there’s also a micro USB extension port.
Finally, there’s the PlayStation 4 Eye, which will cost gamers a modest $59, bringing with it dual-lenses and a 4-channel microphone array. As for the camera itself, the unit offers a frame rate of 60fps at 1280 x 800 pixels, dropping all the way down to 240fps at 320 x 192 pixels. The unit featuers an 85-degree field of view. Weight, cable length, and dimensions haven’t been finalized yet.
Of course, we’ve heard most of these specs already, but now there’s a price tag to go with them, and it’s always good to be reminded about what we have to look forward to.
